I wish to enjoy

I wish for a few days of relaxation from art classes and projects. A time to renew recharge and re-energize from all the art camps that I have done this summer. To take time to reflect on my wonderful accomplishments before moving on to something else. (This is a real challenge for me) I need to take time for me.... to create art, sit outside under my pergola, meditate, journal, read a non art project book, and reflect on the coming art programs that I have planned for the fall. Joy of art Studio in the Sandhills

Art event at Given Memorial Library

Students learned about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his painting Starry Night at the Given Memorial Library during one of their summer art camps. It was a wonderful method of teaching art history through creativity as well  as digital material  and  library books. Sign up now for the Learn about the Masters beginning this fall.

Summer Art Camps begins June 13th with Art in the Park and Paint Like the Masters

The Launching of the new Summer Art Camps begins June 13th-17th  and June 27th- July 1st with Art in the Park. Students will sketch in the morning from 10:30-12:00. Lunch and Meeting an Artist DVD until 1 with discussion and group sharing. Paint like the artist of the day from 1-:2:30 with an hour of sharing and discussing process of own artwork from 2:30-3:30. Registration for art in the Park can be done separately or combined. Sign up for Art in the Park or Paint like the Masters $80.00 for the week. Combined $100.00 with a five dollar discount if registered before May 23rd or $20.00 if you register for one of the other summer art camps or Art in the Park which will be repeated in July. Students artwork will be exhibited at the Meet the Artists First Friday in the Fall and shown in the Joy of Art Gallery. Art cards will be made and available for purchase.

Ages 9-11

There will also be another Art in the Park in August with more studio art because of the heat. Art walk and Meet the Artists is also apart of the art camp as well as Easel Painting.
